Love Orphanage welcomed the third year of Drexel’d Haiti Creative Writing program to Haiti! We  traveled directly from PAP airport to spend our first afternoon in Haiti at Love Orphanage. We couldn’t ask for a better welcome committee than the smiling faces at Love Orphanage. As usual, the Drexel group also transported clothing, school and art supplies, toiletries and shoes – a total of 10 suitcases.

Before the trip, we matched each Drexel student with two children as Welcome Buddies. After introductions, we began by sharing a delicious Haitian lunch sponsored by Drexel followed by a walk so the children could show us around their neighborhood. For our second afternoon at Love Orphanage, we held a yoga session and a walk through different part of the neighborhood. The beautiful thing about this experience is that despite language barriers, the children and Drexel students laughed, played, and truly enjoyed the time together. This relationship between Drexel and Love Orphanage is special and we look forward to bringing a new group of students to Haiti in 2016!
